Celebrating 500 Years of the Reformation: Dietrich Bonhoeffer – Sunday, March 19

Join us on Sunday afternoon, March 19 at 2:00 p.m. as we continue to celebrate this special time in the church’s history. Our next gathering will take place at Little Flower in Berkeley Heights where we will explore the life and ministry of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. We will be joined by author and seminary professor Dr. Katie Day, professor of Church and Society at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian, anti-Nazi dissident, and key founding member of the Confessing Church. His writings on Christianity’s role in the secular world have become widely influential, and his book The Cost of Discipleship continues to be required reading in seminaries around the world. Apart from his theological writings, Bonhoeffer was known for his staunch resistance to Nazi dictatorship, including vocal opposition to Hitler’s euthanasia program and genocidal persecution of the Jewish people. He was arrested in April 1943 and was executed shortly before the liberation of the camps.

We are blessed to have Father Andy and his Pastoral Associate Margaret Manning and our sisters and brothers at Little Flower Roman Catholic Church as partners in ministry for this 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.

We hope you can join us and encourage you to invite friends and neighbors for this very special program. To help us plan, please register by calling the Church Office at 908-464-5177 or via email at family.faith@verizon.net.
