Knit, Purl & Pray

Faith Lutheran Church supports many outreach ministries, but did you know that one ministry touches almost all of them? Handmade knitted scarves, hats, lap robes, prayer shawls, pocket hearts, baby hats, blankets, and happy octopuses are all made by our Knit, Purl & Pray group and shared with St. John’s Soup Kitchen, Family Promise of Union County, University Hospital in Newark, Broadway House for Continuing Care, Imagine – A Center for Coping with Loss, and St. Stephan’s Grace Community – ELCA in Newark’s Ironbound.

Knit, Purl & Pray knitters work independently, using patterns and yarn that are provided. There are no regularly scheduled meetings, though we do have a very dedicated volunteer coordinator. Completed projects can be dropped off at the church whenever they are finished, year-round.

If you are a knitter who would enjoy helping with some of our knitting projects, please contact the Church Office at 908-464-5177 or [email protected]. Share your creative gifts and make someone else feel special with a beautiful handmade symbol of love and care.
